China Condemns Japan’s Defense Growth Amid Economic Ties with Ukraine’s Drone Industry.

Date:

China has voiced its apprehension regarding Japan’s escalating military activities, cautioning that Tokyo’s latest defense strategies could jeopardize peace and stability in the region. This concern was articulated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun during a routine press briefing on Tuesday. His comments came in response to reports about Ukrainian drone companies seeking partnerships with Japanese firms. Guo emphasized that international collaborations should aim to enhance regional security rather than elevate tensions.

The spokesman criticized Japan for what he described as a trend toward military expansion over recent years. This includes Japan’s development of medium- and long-range offensive capabilities, the loosening of restrictions on lethal weapons exports, and the increased operational scope of its Self-Defense Forces. Additionally, Japan has been strengthening its security alliances with nations outside its immediate geographical area.

Guo pointed out that these actions exceed the boundaries set by Japan’s postwar defense policies and challenge the core principles of its historically defense-oriented security stance. He suggested that such moves could potentially destabilize the post-World War II international framework and conflict with Japan’s established image as a peace-committed nation.

In response to these developments, China has called upon the global community to stay alert to what it perceives as growing signs of militarization. The Chinese government urged for concerted efforts to maintain regional stability, expressing concerns that Japan’s recent defense initiatives might undermine existing peace and security dynamics in the area.
